Parent Participation in the Nippers Program
Parent participation in our Nippers program is not just encouraged—it’s expected. While it’s true that many hands make light work, the success of our program depends on every family pitching in.
We require at least one parent or guardian per family to be actively involved in supporting the Nippers program. There are a variety of ways you can contribute, including:
- Age Manager or Assistant Age Manager
- Water Safety (Bronze Medallion or SRC)
- Official at Carnivals (Carnival Parents)
- Fundraising
- Helping at BBQs
- Beach setup and pack-up
- Washing down boards
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in creating a fun, safe, and successful season for our Nippers.
Please be aware that at least one parent or guardian MUST join with nippers aged 6-14 years. All parents and guardian members of our club MUST hold a current Blue Card
Skills Evaluations
Surf Life Saving teaches all members and nippers to apply swim skills to ocean conditions. To ensure the safety of all juniors during water activities SLSQ have developed a Junior Skills Evaluation for each age group. This includes a swimming evaluation prior to the start of nippers. This allows us to allow appropriate water safety at nippers for children. Junior members wanting to participate in carnivals must complete an ocean swim proficiency before they are allowed to enter into carnivals. It is a pre-requisite for all Junior members to have an ability to swim.
